BREAKING: Bulawayo Polytechnic Students Accuse Senior Lecturers of Abuse, Extortion and Sexual Exploitation

Serious allegations of abuse, extortion, and sexual exploitation have rocked Bulawayo Polytechnic and other technical colleges across Zimbabwe, with students accusing senior lecturers of systematically preying on the vulnerable—just days before the May/June 2025 HEXCO examination results are set to be marked.

Two brave female students have come forward, revealing to our newsroom a disturbing pattern of victimisation. “Some lecturers demand money from male students in exchange for good grades,” one student said. “As for us girls—those who don’t have money are pressured into sleeping with the lecturers to pass.”

In one chilling account, a student alleged that a senior lecturer claimed to be a CIO agent, threatening anyone who dared to report him. “He told us no one can touch him, that he’s untouchable. We are terrified,” she said.

The names of the accused lecturers have been shared with our newsroom, and an investigation is now underway.

These shocking revelations have cast a dark shadow over the integrity of the country’s polytechnic institutions and raised urgent questions about student safety and justice.

This is a developing story. More to follow as our investigations continue.
